Funny you made the joke about Oracle's law suit, I came across this article two years after you posted it, and after Googling the Oracle-Google suit discovered today's the exact day that they start their billion dollar legal battle in court. It'll be interesting to watch unfold...

And oh yeah...Java's awesome!

When it comes to WoW people are often blinded by nostalgia, especially if it was their first MMO (this does also apply to the Everquest/UO crowd, but at least they have the excuse of having played "the pioneers" of the online gaming industry).

As for SWTOR... it still is too early to tell what will happen to it.

I am guilty since I am making the same mistakes as many others before me... I am too concerned on small matters ignoring the actual "game" part in my little project. So, what happens? I actually get to do small increments on the engine, ignoring the fact that in itself it is not enough, and that nobody actually uses an engine just for the engine's purpose.

Yup, working on the engine is more fun than working on the actual game, especially when you don't know what the heck you are doing :)

That little guy makes me feel old :D. I do remember whenI was his age trying to draw some lines using the Basic language. There were no fancy and accessible game dev tools back then...

I always think it's ridiculous when people say WoW was polished at launch.

People stating that kind of thing seriously were not around for the launch.

Yeah, polish at launch.
Seems only Blizzard, and now Trion, understands that.
Even Bioware/EA could not do it with SWTOR, sigh...
