The apparent abandonment and the packaging issues were the big reasons I didn’t even want to try it out. Sounds like the first part’s been fixed. The second part is still a concern though, although I know of quite a few games that package themselves up with Python for use with renpy, so maybe it’s not that hard to do anyway.

Yeah, for the Mac there’s py2app, for Linux you can always make a .deb or .rpm with setuptools, and then there’s PyInstaller and other multiplatform packagers. Worst case scenario, you can use Python and Pygame for rapid prototyping, something both excel at, even more so than HTML5. For that reason alone, maybe I shouldn’t have set it aside. But it’s not too late.
